This group was commissioned in 1785, finished in 1787 and installed in Marie-Antoinette’s dairy at Rambouillet. It stood in a grotto in a pavilion decorated with low-reliefs by the same sculptor (bequest to the French state, 2003) This sculpture was confiscated during the Revolution and entered the Louvre in 1829.
